Mothers Day is tomorrow and Hubby just yelled out “oh, we are going to see my mum tomorrow.” The shops are shut and a flower van pickup on the way is inevitable…. but you have nothing from the kids!
Here’s a few quick and easy suggestions the kids will love giving to Nanny.
If your mum likes to read, these photo bookmarks would make a great gift. Let the kids have fun posing and then make up a few bookmarks to tuck in the pages of mums favorite book.
Homemade Chocolate Truffles
I am sure mum would really love some homemade Chocolate truffles, she will appreciate all the hard work and effort, everything tastes better to mums when they don’t cook it.
The kids will need an adult helper to help make these:
Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Cook Time 2 1/2 hours refrigeration time
What you’ll need:
Truffles 1/4 cup heavy cream
1 1/4 cups milk, white, or semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon flavouring extract, such as orange or peppermint(optional) Toppings Shredded coconut, cocoa powder, confectioners’ sugar, or finely chopped pecans or walnuts
How to make it: In a small pan, heat the cream over medium heat (adults only) until it begins to gently bubble. Reduce the heat to low and add the chocolate chips, stirring constantly until completely blended and smooth. Remove the pan from the heat and add the extract, if desired. Transfer the mixture to a bowl, cover, and refrigerate until firm, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Fill small bowls with the truffle toppings. Roll the cooled chocolate into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in a topping and place them on a plate or tray lined with waxed paper. Chill the truffles until completely firm, at least 30 minutes. For the best taste, bring the truffles to room temperature before serving. Leftovers will keep for a few days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. After they have set wrap them up in some pretty clear cellophane and tie it up with some ribbon.
Hand Print Pillow Case
What a gorgeous surprise this will be if Nanny opens this up on Mother Day morning, this is something either mum or nanny can keep forever and the kids and dad will have so much fun making this.
What you will need:
Pillowcase Fabric paint
Fabric signature marker
Paint brush Plastic plates
Pour a small amount of paint onto the plastic plates.
Have the children paint one of their hands and then press their hand print on the front of the pillowcase. Repeat the process till the pillowcase is full of hand prints. Once done, add the names to each hand print with a fabric signature marker.
Mothers Day Feet Photo Flower
This is something so cute that mum can keep forever
What you will need:
2 pieces of coloured construction paper
2 Paper Plates Hole punch Trace the kids feet on the coloured construction paper several times to make the petals of the flower. Then after cutting them out, we glued them to the back of a paper plate using a glue stick. Glue the photo in the middle of the plate Put a hole at the top with a hole punch and thread through the ribbon making a knot at the end so mum cab hang it up some where very special.
Home Made Mothers Day Card
Why not surprise Nanny with your very own Nanny’s day card. Let the kids make a beautiful card for mum a simple idea for making gorgeous flowers on the front of the card is by using a fork.
You will need:
Metal fork Mum favourite coloured paint
Any coloured card
This is so easy place a small amount of paint onto a paint tray using the fork dip the back of the fork into the paint. Slowing roll it at the top of the card, adding as many or little flowers you like. With the paintbrush using the green paint, paint flower stems down to the bottom of the page Leave this to dry, then leave mum a heart warm message or drawing which is sure to make her day.
Mothers day only comes once a year, so make sure you make mum or nanny a yummy breakfast in bed and pick her some beautiful flowers from the garden and giver her a big kiss and tell her much much you love her.
Happy Mothers Day to all our wonderful HeavenLee mums
Love Katie xx
